Ninja Crispi FN101GY review: glass-container workflow and tradeoffs
The evidence supports a distinct glass-vessel workflow, not a broad performance or value conclusion. A conventional basket fryer remains the simpler capacity and control comparison.

What is genuinely different. The glass-vessel workflow is meaningful. It changes cleanup and storage, but it does not eliminate the need for a stable counter, mains power, heat clearance, cooling time, or several accessories.
The problem it claims to solve. It aims to make small-batch air frying and leftovers easier for compact kitchens, offices, potlucks, and households that dislike transferring food between containers.
Why it is receiving attention. Crispi replaces the opaque basket with glass dishes and separates the heating pod from the container. The idea is appealing because one dish can move from cooking to serving to storage.
Value assessment. The evidence supports a distinct glass-vessel workflow, not a broad performance or value conclusion. A conventional basket fryer remains the simpler capacity and control comparison.
- Independent reporting supports the practical value of moving food through one glass vessel instead of transferring it between basket, plate, and storage container.
- WIRED reported effective crisping but less precise temperature behavior and different results across the two vessel sizes.
- The bundle consolidates some dishware but still includes two vessels, lids, plates, an adapter, and a powered lid that require safe storage and handling.

Portable does not mean cook anywhere
The PowerPod still draws 1,500 watts and must be used on a stable, heat-safe setup with required clearance. Portability describes carrying and storing the system, not operating it while moving or without suitable power.
The strongest independent finding is workflow
WIRED's review supports fast crisping and particularly useful reheating in glass. Its temperature observations also show why Crispi should not be described as a precision-controlled substitute for every air fryer or oven.
Material claims need boundaries
The food-contact vessel is glass and the plates are separately coated components. A glass bowl does not mean every cooking-surface component is uncoated, and this page does not make a health claim from material choice.
Compare with a basket, not only another novelty
Instant Vortex Plus and COSORI TurboBlaze use conventional baskets with greater nominal capacity and fewer storage vessels. Crispi is relevant only when serving, refrigerating, or transporting in the same glass vessel solves a recurring problem.
Verdict
Promising but insufficiently proven. The glass-vessel workflow may suit leftovers and small batches, but one independent review cannot establish long-term reliability or comparative cooking superiority, and the parts, capacity, and hot-surface constraints narrow the audience.
Glass system versus basket capacity
Instant Vortex Plus uses a six-quart basket and viewing window. COSORI TurboBlaze uses a six-quart basket with broader temperature and fan control. Ninja AF141 Black is a fixed five-quart, 1,750-watt basket fryer with Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate modes; its Lowe’s purchase path is location-dependent and the retailer-displayed California Proposition 65 warning must remain in California-facing disclosure. Crispi’s distinction is the glass cook-serve-store workflow, not evidence that it cooks every food better than any basket model.
